Centering Prayer in Lent
For the past six weeks, a group of us have been meeting on Wednesday nights from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in the Chapel, to learn about Centering Prayer, a form of Christian silent meditative prayer. We spend some time reflecting together on our experience of this prayer practice, and some time in silent prayer together. The group has decided it would like to continue during the season of Lent, and to extend an invitation to others in the parish to join us. If you are looking for a Lenten discipline that is simple yet profound and includes some conversation and support in learning a new way to pray, this may be a good fit for you.
During our Lenten Centering Prayer gatherings, we’ll be discussing the book Centering Prayer and Inner Awakening by Cynthia Bourgeault, which you can purchase here.
Our meeting and reading schedule is as follows: we’ll be meeting at from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on March 8, March 15, March 22, March 29, and April 5 and discussing one chapter from the book each week.
Centering Prayer is a great way to, well, center ourselves during a stressful time in our national life, and to connect with the Source of life and love. We hope to see you there!
