Presenter, Jim Hyde, Assoc. Professor Emeritus, Tufts University School of Medicine

Please plan to join the Grace Discussion Group on Sunday, February 9th for a presentation and discussion on the world wide need for access to clean water and the available technologies to address the problem.  Jim Hyde will discuss some effective short term strategies drawing on his experience working in West Africa and over the last four years since the earthquake in Haiti. Strategies that will be discussed include: a) the construction of wells and the use of simple pumps; b) home treatment and decontamination strategies e.g. chlorination, solar disinfection, and filtration;  and c) large scale strategies such as desalinization, reverse osmosis, and ultraviolet radiation. The principal focus of the discussion will be on the most practical and effective ways for the Grace Church community to impact this problem. Hope to see you there at 9:30 on Sunday.
