Advent begins

Dear Friends,

The Church School kicked-off Advent 1 with several Advent themed activities. The Godly Play class had a special Advent-themed lesson which primed them for the after-church activity, making Advent wreaths! The elementary class focused on the importance of access to clean water and how many people around the world do not have clean water access. The class created a visual display to educate the congregation and track the incoming support for ERD’s water initiatives. The middle school class discussed the theme of "waiting" in Advent. We talked about how waiting is an inherent part of praying; we then created Advent prayer chains. We linked together several purple and one white ring of paper, writing a person, place, or situation to pray for on each ring. We hope this helps us be mindful of the passing of time and the role of waiting in our prayers and liturgical year.

Don't forget, the first Christmas pageant rehearsal is this Sunday after church!

Best,
Jared Wyma-Bradley
