Dear Friends,
In Children's Chapel this week we went through the entire Lord's Prayer in American Sign Language. After a few more weeks of practice, we will know the whole prayer, through and through! In Firelight we continued learning about the Creation story.  We read a version of the creation story from the Children’s bible in the Firelight library and the children wrote the major creation event associated with each day on the board. We talked about what it means to be a good “steward” of God’s creation. The children shared ways they try to help the planet by not using plastic bags and recycling and taking your own water bottle as opposed to using plastic bottles. We then made a “Creation collage” by clipping pictures of creation images out of magazines. We ended up with pictures of sharks, bears, lions, cats, reptiles, plants, babies and other wonders of creation. The Middle School class began a unit about Jesus. We started a project of creating a large icon of Jesus; each week we will add a different symbol, color, or attribute that represents something we discussed about Jesus.
In Godly Play on Sunday we talked about the Parable of the Sower as Jesus' answer when people asked him what the kingdom of heaven is like.
