We concluded our Earth Week activities on Sunday by discussing where we get our food from and the benefits of growing it in our own backyards. We started Children's Chapel by drawing together a map of where our food comes from, starting with the farm, shipping it to the store, and storing it in our home. We then learned how we can remove all of these steps by simply growing some food at home!
We then moved to the classroom where each student had the opportunity to pick some seeds to plant and take home. We had basil, chives, cilantro, and dill. The kids learned what their seed will need to grow, and saw a small basil plant that is only a couple weeks old so as to spur their excitement. Keep an eye out for some future gardening activities through the Church School! The kids want to help beautify our parish and put their young knees to good use.
