Sunday was the kick-off of Formation Station! We met for breakfast from 8:50–9:20 and started activities at 9:30. We opened in song and prayer, then heard the story of the empty tomb, and then we reflected as a group on this story that is full of surprise, fear, confusion, and God's promise. We then split into groups to build a part of the story using LEGOs. Many tombs were created and even an ascending Jesus! We shared our creations with each other and then closed in prayer. Many children attended the 10:30 service, and I heard that they did a great job listening and entertaining themselves silently.
For those that didn't go to the service, we had an extended Children's Chapel service. We shared the Easter story, discussed why flowers make us think of Easter, and looked at some artistic representations of Jesus appearing to Mary Magdalene. We then created and colored our own Easter flower. Thanks for the help from Carolyn W., Nicole M., and Chris W.!
We are evaluating Formation Station week-by-week. This coming Sunday we are going to have the Godly Play class meet during the 10:30 service instead of during Formation Station. The pre-k and kindergarten kids are welcome to be a part of Formation Station.
If you have any suggestions for in-church entertainment for the kids, let me know! :)
