Dear Friends,

Rejoice, for it is the third week of Advent! Our classes were full of energy and excitement on Sunday. Godly Play continued with their Advent lessons, learning about how Jesus was a king with no riches, no army, and no palace, but was born in a barn with very little. The class lit their own candles just as we do in the church service, and learned about the story of the magi, the shepherds, and the holy family. The Elementary Class focused on how God is with us and how we can reach out to others with kindness. The class came up with ways to give of ourselves for Christmas. After this brainstorm with ideas on the board, including hugs & kisses, mowing the lawn, helping, being kind, we created coupons as gifts for family members and friends, and wrapped them simply. The Middle School class learned about the song of the angels as they heard that the messiah was being born, "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!" We discussed two kinds of peace, the king that Emperor Augustus tried to bring through force and might, and the kind that Jesus brought through selflessness and love. We then made another set of prayer chains for this week, including ways to pray for peace in the world.

Don't miss this Sunday, for the children will be performing the Christmas Pageant during the service!

Best,
Jared Wyma-Bradley
