Joan Devlin and a Second Flower Arranging Workshop
Saturday, October 26 at 9 a.m.
In early October, several of us joined Joan Devlin as she demonstrated her flower arranging skills and took us on a tour of Grace’s garden treasures. An enthusiastic teacher and a talented floral designer, Joan explained her process, showing how she can magically do so much with so little. We watched her put together those beautiful arrangements that appeared before the altar on the following Sunday. Then she led us on an exploration of our Isabel Coleman Memorial Garden, selecting overlooked treasures—fading fall blossoms and so-called “weeds”--that can be transformed into elegant floral filler for arrangements. Some of us speedily put what we had learned into practice by creating our own artistic displays. Jean Kennedy’s creation is featured in this photograph.
Joan will be doing another flower arranging workshop on Saturday, October 26. Please join us then.
