Thank you very much for all the emails regarding the Vestry's decision to offer Margaret an extension of her time here at Grace as an Interim Priest. Please continue to be prayerful as we move through this process.
I am including below the message that went out to the parish in the event someone did not receive it.
Today, the Vestry unanimously passed a motion to draw up a contract that would offer to Margaret Schwarzer an extension and expansion of her position as an Interim Priest at Grace Church for a period of two years, with an option to review the offer at the end of the first year.
The Wardens have been in conversation with the Diocese regarding our PIC decision and search and we and the Vestry as a whole feel this is the best course of action for Grace Church at this time.
We are experiencing a period of tremendous renewal and growth. The energy around initiatives and committees is very exciting. We want to capture this energy and allow us to live into our LFG goals. We feel that God is working in Grace in a strong way right now, and we feel it's faithful for us to stay with this energy.
We are a parish that is growing into something more than we were before and we are not done with this yet! By giving ourselves more time for this growth and energy to do their work, we will be even more well prepared when the time comes for calling our future clergy leadership.
Having made this decision, we need to allow the process to continue to follow its proper course. There needs to be a further conversation with the Diocese, the contract needs to be developed, and Margaret will need time to consider our offer.
Please continue to be prayerful and patient as we work to make these things happen in the next few weeks.
On May 20th, the Wardens will be present at a Grace Discussion Group to discuss where we are in the process and to answer additional questions. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact either David or me.
With gratitude for the support, wisdom and strength of our Vestry,
Jennifer and David
